The Global Entrepreneurship Week 2020 was organized by Vim Foundation in collaboration with Mesopotamia Organization, the duration lasting from the 19th to the 21st of November. During these 3 days, a collection of activities, programs, and panels in regards to entrepreneurship in Kurdistan was arranged. The justification of this astounding event was to pillar local talent and shed light on concerns that barricade young entrepreneurs in the region. In the course of the event, Mr. Qubad Talabani, the Deputy Prime Minister of Kurdistan Region made a noteworthy appearance and encountered the 7 local entrepreneurs, as well as the 11 winners of the Vim Startup Initiative Program. To convey support, Mr. Qubad listened to the entrepreneurs’ pitches and expressed his astonishment at their endeavors.
The Deputy Prime Minister participated in an enlightening panel alongside Vim Foundation’s Vice President, Ahmed Najm to discuss entrepreneurship and the government’s role in this sector. During the panel, Talabani spoke about the current financial crisis in Kurdistan and explained its consequences on the region. He also specified the importance of seizing opportunities during any quandary.
Furthermore, Mr. Qubad Talabani emphasized the significance of having female entrepreneurs in Kurdistan and said, “Data around the world reveal that countries that have women in decision making positions are far more developed than patriarchal countries.”
