The Global Entrepreneurship Week of 2020 was organized by Vim Foundation in collaboration with Mesopotamia Organization from 19th to 21st of November. During these three days, a number of activities, programs, and panels about entrepreneurship in Kurdistan were organized by Vim foundation. This event aimed to support local talents as well as to pinpoint issues that face entrepreneurs in Kurdistan.
In the event, the Deputy Prime Minister of Kurdistan Region Mr. Qubad Talabani visited the seven local entrepreneurs as well as the eleven winners of the Small Business Initiative program to show support. Mr. Qubad listened to the entrepreneurs’ pitches and expressed his amazement at their efforts.
In this event, Mr. Qubad Talabani participated in a panel alongside Vim Foundation’s vice president to discuss entrepreneurship and the government’s role in this area. In the panel, Talabani talked about the current financial crisis in Kurdistan and explained its effects on KRG. He also pointed out how important it is to seize opportunities during any crisis.
Furthermore, Mr. Qubad Talabani emphasized the importance of women’s abilities and having female entrepreneurs in Kurdistan, he said “data around the world show that those countries that have women in decision making positions are more developed than patriarchal countries”.
